This was our group of hip and cool cats right before we took off on our Second Annual Field Trip to our State Capitol for Disability Rights Legislative Day!  Note the smiling faces? 

It was an awesome trip to say the least!  More pics to come!

We're Getting Ready!

HKT is planning our second annual field trip to Jeff City!

We had such a blast last year we are doing it again!  What started out as a homework assignment from a class I was involved with at the time turned into a full blown roadtrip adventure.

With the help of some generous supporters, HKT chartered a bus, packed a cooler and took some friends and family in support of Disability Rights Legislative Day. 

We certainly went to voice opinions and show support for disability related topics, but we also took it for what it was: a chance for cultural exploration into many depths of diversity with opportunities for social interaction beyond our normal day. 

Everyone that went on this trip benefited in one way or another by sheer participation.  Our illustrious bus driver, Johnny Jordan included.

Big News! Hot off the press!! HKT is now a recognized Advocate for The President's Challenge!!!

And we are proud to introduce you to A Fit Kid: Our active lifestyle development program designed to promote the social benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

 
Utilizing The President's Challenge as a motivational tool, we hope to instill in kids positive eating and exercise habits they can carry with them through adulthood.

The President's Challenge is a fitness initiative through the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition with a goal of helping people achieve a healthy balance of diet and exercise...something everyBODY needs!!!

A Big Accomplishment!!! It was 8 months in the making!

  

 

 

 

Just announced so save the date! A Night on Stage Friday September 28th!

If you like GLEE you won't want to miss this one! It will be another musical night with our friends from  STAGES Performing Arts Academy and Sunset Hills Community Center. 

We will have Certified American Sign Language Interpreters providing their art form alongside the STAGES staff as an accompaniment to assist.  Please tell your friends!
